I think Mr. Joker is talking about BlueMail. Blue Mail is an email client.
If you are looking for an alternative to BlueMail, I would recommend FairEmail, which can be customized to the smallest detail.
I don’t think Thunderbird is going to make any real improvements in the future.
I was not even asked if I want to update and now I cannot destinguish between differnet account any more because these coloured bubbles are using acronymes for the domain , I WANT THE OVERVIEW BACK where I had all my email account listed by account-name PLEASE!!! it is rediculous
If you desire update control, you can disable automatic updates per app in the Play Store as well as F-Droid.
Play Store:
- Tap on your user image
- Tap “Manage apps and devices”
- Tap “Manage”
- Find the app in the list and tap it
- Tap the three dot menu in the upper right
- Uncheck the checkbox “Enable auto-update”
F-Droid:
- Tap “Settings” on the lower right
- Tap “Manage installed apps”
- Find the app in the list and tap it
- Tap the three dot menu in the upper right
- Check the checkbox “Ignore all updates”
If you haven’t disabled automatic updates, you cannot complain that you did not ask for an update. You did implicitly agree to unsupervised updates by not opting out.
You should see the currently selected account name in the top of the bubble-list with the folders. This comes from the settings, and the first two values are used in the bubble on Thunderbird 9.0.b2 and hopefully soon on K-9.
In fact, you can tap that account at the top of the bubble/folder list and focus will move to the next account.
Thanks for the hint, this is what I will do with K9 from now on
Thanks for the answer.
I know this from finding out. BUT IT IS JUST NOT USEFULL.
Why do you not hear the screems of the users?
You should listen to the end-users needs.
But still I NEED THE LIST OF BY ACCOUNT NAMEs and not the bubbles. I see three MA-Bubbles which does not give me any helpful information. Before I could drop down the list of accounts and select the one I needed. This is a mess if <ou have a greater number of accounts which all come with the same domain-ending
Is the previous version of K9 available somewhere, is there a way back to before the update?
Have you installed from Paly Store or F-Droid?
There are some downgrade tutorials in the forum, but it’s difficult if you have installed from Play Store…
Don’t forget to backup your configuration before downgrading! Important!
Beware that downgrading only works sensibly if you are using IMAP. If you are using POP3, your mails will be gone.
I have installed from FDROID and I use IMAP
I am not a dev on the team and don’t contribute to the application development. I just help out here on the forums as a long time K-9 user.
Once K-9 releases the equivalent of Thunderbird 9.0b2, you’ll be able to set the first two letters.
I do have 16-18 accounts in my K-9, with 2 servers that have 4-5 accounts each. So yes, even I have duplicates in my bubbles. I just hide the bubbles via “Hide accounts”, and tap the account name in the top to flip to the next one. I kind of like it. Sorry you don’t like what’s there now. But hopefully with the next release, changing the account name will give you some flexibility.
Wow OldieAB, how do you know about the TB release in front if you are not on dev-team?
How long will we have to work with this unacceptable design then Do you know?
IT IS A DRAG to be honest.
It has been discussed here quite extensively and is already out in beta.
That, and following Thunderbird on some of the social sites. There will probably be a 9.0b3 Thunderbird release today / soon, as they posted.
It you have lots of time for inefficient flipping it’s a nice idea. However if you want to use K9 as an efficient tool it’s not too good…
Thank you for not caring about anything. Switched to FairMail.
K-9 was much more better than Fairemail:
Settings in FE are difficult
FE Pro costs some money
Server search in K-9 is better
Author of FE sometimes stubborn
Therefore, I preferred K-9.
But FairEmail layout is much better than Thunderbird.
Have you met cketti?
Correct, WAS better, but not is…
But I like if you have a better selection of settings which is not too complex to handle.
Server search worked super good and I like that I can use my S/MIME digital certs as I can do in MS Outlook.
At the end of the day, I am somehow happy that K9’s ignorance forced me to change.
And, come on, that little money for the pro version… that’s two beers, nothing more…
On my Windows-PC, I am using Thunderbird. This is fine. K-9 on Thunderbird was fine, too, but the new Thunderbird-Design killed K-9. The layout is not acceptable, see attachment.
In my opinion, FairEmail is too complex for standard-users like me.
Now I deleted K-9, and I am using GMail. It’s already pre-installed with Android, and also works fine with multiple eMail accounts, also with non-GMail-accounts.
Bye bye and best regards

it’s changed now a bit. but why do the icons get smaller if it’s active selected account. and now i have two icons of same account in list, one in top, one below. both show new mails. it’s kind of annoying
who tested it all? and it’s all ok? oh and why isn’t this in options
why does every program have to do those totally cursed ui changes that make you swear. and there’s no way to turn them back. when i heard k9 tb merge i though ok this can’t be that bad. now it’s bad. every time those changes happen, i go into options and see if new options have appeared. they have not. why is k9 trying to use me instead of me using that? the fact that any new folder will have sync disabled, is this a bug or feature? no option on that either!
it’s as if all android ff are coming to android tb now. features flap around as if it’s some sandbox. i actually try to use it. what on living earth is going on there? i think i want mix of old and new ui actually. but it offers next to nothing in config. people use those things, what the hell. bring the options to customize it
the unconfigurable blue hue went missing, maybe some wanted it. if it was to promote tb, i object on having it all blue just because of logo color
also stars are in different sizes now. how would any daily k9 users not notice this? i fail to understand how things like this happens
feels like noone is using k9 daily because if you do, would not design it to make people mad
so, more options, instead of average ui for majority
