I just got the update to version 11.0 from F-Droid today and I have to agree.
Differentiating between read and unread messages is no longer possible.
Was the latest update done by someone who has never seen or used the app? Please revert this “improvement”. It broke something that didn’t need to be fixed.
Agree, the previous version was fine with a nice obvious contrast between read/unread. Now the contrast is minimal, making it much harder to distonguish read from unread.
Please revert this, it was fine before and did not need to change.
As of 11.0 on Android 10, I see unread mail subjects in boldface and read mail in a normal font. The difference is clear and unchanged from earlier.
There is also an option in Settings/General/Display “Change color when read” that also grays the background of read messages. Also clear to me (although unnecessary).
I’ve been using K9/Tbird for years and the difference between read and unread used to be clear. It no longer is though, even with that option ticked - something must have changed with the Tbird 11 update. I’m on an A15 custom rom with “system default” theme which means always dark.
With dark mode on, boldface is lighter than the normal font, but not that much lighter. The “Change colour when read” setting doesn’t seem to do much of anything.
I’ve been using dark mode for probably longer than K9 and until the change in v11 I was still able to see the difference between read + unread. Changing to blinding light mode is simply not an option - K9/TBird was fine before v11 and they simply need to undo whatever silly change they mode to the colors.
Please revert back this change, or find another way to highlight unread mails. With the current situation, it is almost impossible to differentiate between the 2 states (read/unread), neither in light mode nor in dark mode.
Agree with everyone. Latest update makes the read/unread differences practically indistinguishable. Dark mode isn’t the problem since it was distinguishable before the update.
I also agree. In addition, there is hardly any differentiation between marked and unmarked entries, especially when the sun is shining while travelling. Unfortunately, this bright red colour has also disappeared from the screen.
Well the changelog for the latest Beta has it included. But like I already said in 1 of the other threads: Until TBird fixes it so that the Beta + Stable can be updated with each other it’s kind of pointless. I for one am not willing to install the Stable AND Beta parallel just because Tbird insists on using a different signature. If I could update the Stable with the Beta (and vice versa) I’d be willing to test …
