How can I change the background color of selected messages

(1) I suggest make the selection color clear. Currently, on the light design, it is mere 5% grey, which is hardly decernable. On the dark design, selection is a full 98% black, which is even more troublesome. Anyway Selection should include a checkbox mark, not just a background color, for usability and “inclusion” reasons, as most applications do, and such things are easy to code.
