You need to export your settings so that you can import all of your account information into the older version. After you’re done exporting all of your account information and settings you can go ahead and uninstall and then install the older version from this link and import your settings. I’m pretty sure you will have to reauthenticate each account but all of your accounts will be there.
If you have any trouble getting the install APK let me know and I’ll put it on my cloud drive and post a link.
That is what I have chosen to do until this situation gets resolved somehow hopefully for the better.
Thanks. I’ve heard of apkmirror, but never had the need to use it before, somehow. I’m sure I can find the apk.
Duh! You linked to it.
One more question: I see that Thunderbird 8.0 is now available on Google Play. Is it basically the same as K-9 8.0, but with a new icon and app signature?
Roughly two years ago Thunderbird either purchased or somehow acquired the rights to the K-9 app With the intent of using it to create Thunderbird for Android. My gut tells me that They took some code from K-9 And then customized it to their thought of what people might want. I just installed the newly released version of Thunderbird for Android that’s not beta and it offered me the opportunity to import not only from my Android app K-9 But from Windows also.
I’ve also been reading on the Internet and some of the news articles are suggesting that Thunderbird will eventually retire K-9 . I doubt they’ll maintain parallel development of the two products over the long term. This is one of the biggest disappointments to K-9.
If you don’t like the changes to K-9 You will likely dislike Thunderbird even more.
Agree with all.
Latest GUI is a retrograde step.
I can only imagine the developers involved only had one or possibly two email accounts, easily identified by different two letters.
To me the main issue is that the account identification and selection issue was totally foreseeable and avoidable but the developers proceeded regardless, knowing full well what would transpire. Doesn’t bode well for the future of the app.
It seems to me that German politicians are in the development of k9-mail. Everyone wants to set a monument for themselves. Now a developer is setting himself a monument with the new view. Disgusting. The view has already been changed and a list of all accounts has been promised. Nothing to this day. Now you have gotten used to it, then comes the next garbage. Well, the app is free. Do you really want to upset all users? Sorry, but the gmx-app is clearer. At least give us the opportunity to decide for ourselves.
I reverted the update and reinstalled the previous version. In the future I won’t make an update and look for another app or take the one from gmx, because this is better than the current garbage. Sorry for the direct words. If you publish something like that, you have to take criticism. I turn my back on k9-mail
I have the same problem. I can’t distinguish the e-mail accounts simply from their color or the two letters GM, MA, HO, etc. I have 6 Gmail accounts; how can I tell which one is which?
There is not such a problem in the old interface (K9)
Pour la toute première fois depuis que j’utilise K9 j’ai été obligé de downgrader et revenir à la version 6 tellement l’interface de la 8 est inutilisable ! Remettez l’ancienne interface de la liste des comptes !
Can anyone of the developers’ team get into the discussion and comment on this highly disturbing issue, when they release a roll-back and fix the chaos.
Take a look here what “kewisch” wrote about it last month. For me, the stupidest thing I’ve ever read. Quote: Having multiple separate email accounts in the same domain might be more of an edge case. Unquote. Real? I have eight accounts at gmx. Could be an edge case? Can you get along
