This just happened to me about an hour ago and I cannot seem to fix it. When I open an email in the K9 app, whether I mark it unread or just hit the arrow at the top left side of the interface, the email disappears. I can still see it when I go into my email on my laptop (a different email program, not Thunderbird), and it is marked read but hasn’t been removed. So the K9 app is communicating with the server, but it is also not removing the email as it is in the app.
I’ve tried rebooting my phone as well as updated my phone, no change in the app behavior. I also was not messing with any settings prior to this happening.
Thank you ByteHamster! But I do not see any filter capability for K9. When I asked Gemini, it stated as well that there are no filter functions for K9 (although that could be wrong as well). Are you familiar with how to check these settings? Oddly, the emails that are disappearing still appear in other email software, although they are marked as read.
Oh, looks like the filter feature disappeared in some update. Where does the mail disappear from? The screen that you see when pressing the notification or the screen that you see when freshly opening the app and navigating to the folder manually?
Thank you again ByteHamster! First I open the email, then I read it, then I hit the arrow on the top left to return to the list of emails I have in my (often the Unified) email box and when I do, it is as if the email swipes itself right and disappears on its own. Does that make sense?
Thank you for your help. I do check my email in the “All Mail” folder. I do not see anywhere in which there is a setting to auto archive messages. Note as well that even though this happens on my phone, the emails still appear on my laptop (although they show as read, so to some degree K9 is interacting with the mail server).
Does this help at all? Any continued assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Check if you have “Sort by” set to something other than “Date”
Try clicking Date in “Sort by” and check that it says “latest first”
If that doesn’t work I mean you could try brute force…uninstall and reinstall app
Or if you don’t want to do that try installing the other app. If you’re using K-9 now, then install Thunderbird, or vice versa. The apps are identical but function separately on the phone so you can check if the new app behave the same way or if the issue is non-existent.
