V12 crashing when opening

Update from V11.1 to V12 overnight. V12 crashes while opening. Tried re-install, no change.

Running on Pixel 7 android 16. Graphene OS v33

The forum won’t let me post the same message more than once, but see my reply and download link here

Please push the fixed version to F-Droid ASAP. I just spent an hour trying to troubleshoot after the broken update, and then having to reinstall an older version and reconfigure all accounts, which is not how I planned to spend my Saturday afternoon. In case you can’t tell, I’m not happy about that.

Can’t you simply update from Github, or do those have different signatures?

Believe it or not, everybody in the world does not use GitHub. And even if they did, they have no way of knowing the most current version in their app store (i.e., F-Droid) is bad until they install it and they suddenly can’t get email on their phone any more. I see that the newest version on F-Droid is STILL 12.0, not 12.1. What are they waiting for?? Email is an essential function, not a game. If a broken version is released, it’s on the authors to get the fix out ASAP.

Have the same issue. K9 mail crashes when I try to open. This happens after a (automated) update with Fdroid. Seems 12.1 is not available yet on Fdroid. If I understand correct it might take a week to have the update available… Not having mail on my phone for a week is inconvenient. Does somebody know if automated updates on Fdroid keep working if i manually update from github?

The f-droid and github versions use different apk signatures so you can’t use the github version to update an install from f-droid and vice versus.

I don’t know how long it takes for the update to be available on f-droid but it’s in their pipeline.

Ok thanks for clearing that up. Will wait for the update then.

hopefully by monday it will be available, as I really find you app amazing without the tracking of other email clients.

why they use different sig’s? is there a good reason for it?

The crash happens upon accessing the Unified Inbox. So the workaround for now is to create a K-9 widget that goes straight to a specific email account. This lets you open the K-9 app, then you can go into General settings → Display and uncheck “Show Unified Inbox”.
