I have been having issues starting with sending to gmail addresses. Now I cannot send to some others which I believe are using google servers as well as Yahoo addresses now as well. To clarify I believe the mail is actually sent but deleted by the server receiving the email. So far there doesn’t appear to be any post with this problem but one a couple years back which didnt appear to be followed up on or solved. If anyone has any relevant info I would appreciate it.
Update: I have the same setting that I use in thunderbird, but have tried other ports. Mail issues only with specific servers receiving the msg. Every email from K9 to Yahoo or Gmail is rejected or not delivered. No response from either.
K9 Ver. 6.804
Dear APCNC.
I can’t find a solution with the information in your post, so I will take a guess and answer your question.
If you send with Thunderbird and K-9Mail and the recipient cannot receive the message, you can solve the problem by putting the recipient on the allow list.
What mail provider do you use? You named the receiving mail server only, but not the sending server.
Other receiving mail servers do work fine for you?
Hi, my outgoing emails not working to other services, not gmail or yahoo.
A work account and protonmail not receiving mails.
Registered as a Beta tester then restarted phone
Version 6.202
I’m using hushmail. was working up until last day or 2
i get the ‘Failed to send’ messages warnings
thanks
I see that K-9Mail is failing to send to Gmail and YahooMail.
The latest beta version of K-9Mail is 6.904. Please update to the latest version of the regular version or to the latest beta version.
Im not sure if I follow what you are saying. The allow list is for incoming mail, is it not? I send with K9 on android, and Thunderbird on windows. Im not having an issue with thunderbird. My issue is when an email is sent with via K9. It goes through on my server and leaves a copy in the sent box. But, the gmail and Yahoo recipients do not receive the email. Its not in spam the recipients server doesn’t respond at all. Ive tested this with my own Yahoo and gmail accounts.
Using my own server. This issue however is only when using K9. I can send with Thunderbird under windows. But gmail and Yahoo appear to reject all email send via K9. Both are using the same server with the same settings. I can send an email from K9 via Android through my server to my gmail address and it will go through according to the server but is never received in the gmail inbox or spam. At the same time I could sent another with thunderbird using the same server and it is received. Both are received by my server and sent with saved a copy in the sent folder. For whatever reason both gmail and yahoo will block or delete everything I send to those recipients via K9 which causes an issue with whatever I send from the road on my phone.
I was on the latest ver. Updated to the latest beta. Same thing.
In a test using K-9 and for what it’s worth, I sent an email from a Fastmail account to my Gmail account, and it arrived at Gmail in my inbox.
Allow me to rephrase. They appear to reject all email from K9 coming from my server. I can actually send email from K9 on a Yahoo account.
Did you do anything to configure DMARC, DKIM, and/or SPF on your email server?
Although I’d think you’d be below thresholds, but that may depend on what is coming out as email from your ISP or it’s carrier.
But doesn’t quite explain the ‘Thunderbird works, K-9 doesn’t’
Its configured local.
Can’t you compare the logs from your local server to see what are the differences when Thunderbird and K9 are sending the same simple mail? This might help to find the reason for this issue
It appears I’m moving back to outlook. I was hoping to find the problem but in the mean time I send mail and replies that aren’t received. This appears to have happened to a few others but never remedied. All I know is people aren’t getting my email when sent from K9. Hopefully sometime in the future this will be fixed.
Might be hard for developers to fix something when they do not get logs which show the error.
Did you create a github ticket and add k-9 and maybe also server logs?
Update. I just loaded another email client and can now reply and send email from my phone again. Constantly having to check to see if my email is received and knowing most many will not gets old. I tried thunderbird first as I noticed its available now. Unfortunately its basically identical and has the same problem as K9. Ill not list the client that worked if that may be an issue, but if anyone has the same problem Id hint to use an incandescent bulb. Although I’m sure there are others as well but my problem is solved for now. Please advise if the problem is ever found and solved.
It sends from the server. I have no error. The Yahoo and google servers seem to truncate the msg immediately without any response. That’s another reason among many that I dont care for google especially. Its also only on android with K9 & Thunderbird beta though. Which appears to be the same as K9. I have no problems with Thunderbird under windows though. Its all listed above.
Yes, I understood that. But my idea was to set your server ( no idea which one you use) into kind of debug logging mode and see the logs when you send with TB from PC and K9 - and hope to see any differences which might help, even if no error could be seen
You have been asked to provide logs, but have declined. My understanding of what you are saying is that mail is recorded as being sent. If that is the case it is not a K9 issue.
