Transfer K-9 Mail to a new phone

I have purchased a new android phone and want to transfer my current K-9 Mail account to it. When I click on the icon on the new phone I input my email address but have managed to forget the password I used to set up the original account. How can I set up a new password?

1st you should be able to get the password for your account from K9 on old phone - it would require you to enter your phone’s pin to see it in corresponding setting.
2nd - if you need to change the password this cannot be done in K9 - you would need to do it on your mail provider’s web page.

Also you should be aware that if you use POP3 then there is no way to move your old mails from old to new phone if these are deleted from mail server.

Thanks for your reply but I have had a look through K9 on the old phone and can not see anywhere that allows me to get to my password. I do not wish to change the password, I just want to find out what it is.

You can find your current password in K9 at
Settings / account / Fetching mail / Incoming server / Password
And
Settings / account / Sending mail / Outgoing server / Password

I just checked. K9 no longer asks for my phone’s pin… it just shows the password if I ask for…

Using version 8.2. Has this behavior changed since 7.x?

That’s great. Found it. Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately I now get the message “Checking incoming server settings failed”, “Network error”, “Details: Read timed out”.

Check if all settings are the same as on old phone. Check with different networks, ie. Mobile or Wifi. Doyo have VPN? Try to disable it.
Sorry, no more help from my side possible

I’ll check all that. Thanks for your help aanyway.
