Top Compose Button not Working

Since the latest update my compose button disappeared from the top toolbar. I managed to get it back by removing the bin icon from the toolbar. However it does nothing when I press it.

Hmmm, navigating to the compose screen via toolbar button or the 3 dot overflow menu while reading an email is not a navigation flow I’ve tried. I normally drop to the message list first.

A compose option exists in the 3 dot menu but nothing happens when it’s pressed. Seems like a bug to me. I’d suggest creating a bug report ticket on github.

The developers are redesigning various aspects of the user interface so it may become a mute point once those changes are released.

NB. I am using a tablet in split screen mode, hence it is usually in reading an email mode.

I have created a bug report.

I will await the removal of more features ie. The top compose button. However in split screen mode the floating toolbar is in an awkward place.

I can confirm the compose button from the triple dot menu doesn’t work when in a message.

I’m not sure what changed in the 17.0 release that I even need to click on the triple dot menu. Maybe the number of icons decreased or the filtering was added? I’ve never used the floating compose button which I assume is what the developers use themselves. But given that compose now takes two clicks rather than one like it did in version 16, I guess I’ll have to switch to the floating method. Not sure what problem they were trying to solve by making this change. It worked fine before.
