google pixel 6 stopped send email using K-9 app over internet. Received email but cannot send. This started in May, 2025. All settings are correct - exactly as specified by Optimum provider.
Presumably you are seeing an error message. Handy to know what it is.
Iow. What happens when you test the outgoing server?
Please give 11.0b5 a try, we changed something that might work around the problem.
Thanks, and please extend my thanks to Forum member Figgerty who also replied. The problem is not with K-9 since it shows up on all email programs installed in our various android devices. It appears that our Internet service provider is slowly, but unofficially, abandoning email support. The service provider - Optimum - no longer issues new email accounts. It steers folks with email account problems to its web service accessible via a browser. Although K-9 and the other programs still work on Windows 11 sending emails (as opposed to receiving emails) on our Android devices no longer works. I suspect that it is only a matter of time before Optimum abandons all email support.
Hi , I am having the same Optimum mail send failure issue. How can I install the 11.0b5 version that has been tweaked ?
Optimum made this announcement back in 2021: “Optimum no longer offers the ability for new and existing Subscribers to create new Optimum email accounts.”

May 4, 2021 was the cut off date. That is a clear sign that Optimum is abandoning email, so it is not surprising that fixing glitches and problems with its email are simply not a priority.
You can use your Optimum wifi service to launch a wide range of non-Optimum email services such as Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo Mail, iCloud Mail, AOL Mail, Zoho Mail, ProtonMail, and Tutanota to name a few. I’ve already abandoned Optimum as my main email account in favor of Gmail, but I also have a Yahoo Mail account as well. I have friends on Optimum who have migrated to AOL Mail and Yahoo Mail. If you do change your main email provider to one of these programs, I suggest that you keep your Optimum account just in case someone fails to switch to your new email address. If you cancel Optimum, you cannot get it back. Good luck!
