Push stops working randomly, but not on all accounts

I’ve been fighting this issue ever since I upgraded to 8.2. Everything seems to be working fine, then I’ll notice I haven’t gotten an email on an account in hours. I refresh, and emails pile in. Then it works for a while… and a different account will stop. Could be right away, could be hours later. I’ve set the folder limits, and made sure push is on for inbox and sync is off on all the accounts. I’m on Android 14.0. Any help is appreciated!

I don’t know why it’s failing - but you could simply enable Poll as well. That way it will always check at the set intervalls instead of relying on Push. Gmail for example has been notoriously bad at Push (for ME). So I’ve pretty much always had Poll enabled as well, with a 15 minute intervall. That way I always get my mails :sunglasses:

Thank you for the reply. I will have to use that as a workaround for now. I thought I had it fixed, as my emails all pushed for 5 days straight, then this morning, I had to refresh my accounts.

Thanks again!

Actually, that didn’t help. I set my main account to poll every 15 minutes. It still stops. Hadn’t got anything in hours. Refreshed, and in they came. Is there a way to put in a ticket?

Thanks

Just to be sure: You have set battery optimisation to unrestricted for K-9 / Thunderbird?

Android settings → Apps → See all apps → K-9 → App battery usage → Allow background usage

  • Toggle on
  • Tap on the “allow background usage” text
  • Select “unrestricted”

Sounds like the same issue others and I have, see here:

It’s also running fine for days or even weeks, then it randomly stops for one or mutliple accounts.

Android 14 might be limiting background sync. Try disabling battery optimization for your email app and checking if “Unrestricted” mode helps.
