Push email not working

I’m on the Android app and I’ve read other posts but they’re all from years ago. I just spent two days thinking I didn’t have email only to find a whole bunch in my inbox on my computer. There is no setting for push, I know that, on Android but I figured that on IMAP that must be the default. I have polling off, I don’t know what else I could do.
Any help with this? Anyone else finding the same problem of just not getting email?

3-dot menu, Manage Folders - Inbox. Here you can enable/disable Push.

I have several accounts set up and Push is working just fine here. Make sure you didn’t accidentally disable it by turning off the notifications for it either

Hey. Yeah, I do have Push enabled.

I’ve gone through everything here, but I still will have moments in the day when nothing is coming through to the app though I can see mail on other clients.

I’ll try this link. It’s the only thing I’ve not tried yet.

Wait… Thunderbird? Has K9 officially become Thunderbird Mobile or something now?

Yes, K-9 was acquired by Thunderbird, both apps are built from the same source code.

Oh… so shall I just uninstall K9 and install Thunderbird then? I can’t imagine the K9 out there will get many things updated or fixed anymore.

Yup, I also find push not always reliable.

Push is enabled on a folder (sync disabled), with the notification bar icon, and it was working correctly a few days ago (so would seem to be correctly configured).

Today, right now, nothing new is showing. Yet if I pull-down, half-a-dozen new-ish emails appear.

This on Samsung, Android 14.

Sucks because on the Samsung Email app when I had my Galaxy and on Outlook Mobile push worked fine but I no longer have the Galaxy and Outlook is a mess of an app on too many other ways. And I’ve never found another email app that was worth it without overdoing a million things I don’t use. I would use Gmail but it doesn’t sync enough folders properly (drafts, etc)

K-9 and Thunderbird are also the lowest level email clients in terms of functionality.
The email client that solves all of these problems is FairEmail.
Pushing is also not a problem. It takes some getting used to because there is a lot of customization, but in the future, K-9 will be fading out soon, so it is a good idea to switch to a new email client.

Both apps use the same source code and MZLA will keep updating K-9 for a while. Long-term, however, it seems that the plan is to only have Thunderbird around. So if you start fresh (and are not attached to the K-9 dog icon ), Thunderbird might be the better choice
