No Sent folder? - POP3

I’ve been using K9 with POP3 on my phones for years and it’s always had a “Sent” items folder, but after setting it up on my new phone (Galaxy S24) I noticed there was no such folder and sent items weren’t kept.

After searching the settings I eventually found an option to enable “Sent”, but not as a separate folder - it puts the sent E-mail into my Inbox, which is confusing.

The options for the “Sent folder” are limited to:

Automatic (None)
None
Inbox

Is it not possible to have sent items in their own folder any more?

Note that E-mail on my phone is temporary, it gets completely cleared periodically. I have no desire to have continual access to 25 years of saved E-mail (which my desktop machine has) which is why I’m using POP3 on my phone. I know that K9 has only minimal support for POP3, but a “Sent” folder is fairly basic…

That’s not a reason to use POP3. POP3 is made to keep emails locally, while IMAP is made to keep emails on the server (and some cached locally, you can choose how many). In other words, you don’t need to periodically clear local emails with IMAP, it just works automatically.

Do you know how to get K9 to save my sent items in a sent folder, instead of adding them to my inbox? This used to work.

I don’t know, sorry.
