Using K-9 Mail 10.0 on Samsung phone with One UI 7.0 / Android 15.
Tapping a collapsed group of notifications expands the group instead of opening the New Mail screen. Is there any way of accessing New Mail on this OS?
If I understand you correctly then you have X new mails for an account, with X notifications. The notifications are presented as group. Tapping on group will expand notifications, and now you can tap a single notification which opens corresponding mail.
What you want / expect is a screen in K-9, which shows a list for these X new mails only? Did that work in the past?
In the past, tapping the group would go to the New Messages screen. See Issues with "New Message" Screen - #2 by cketti
