I already posted here recent problems with crashes and freezes when going through folders. There are many more issues I had not experienced before. For exemple, impossible to empty trash folder with m’y hotmail account. When I choose “empty trashbin”, only the moste recent mail disapears and the app freezes.
All this is very annoying
Without details you can’t expect much help - afaik there are no mindreaders here.

Is there a chance your Malwarebytes security app is affecting the app?
Very little, I’ve been using Malwarebytes and K9 together for several years with no issue but I’ll try closing Malwarebytes. Everything started when l migrated from Android 15 to 16 but there could have been an update for K9 I am unaware of ?
Do you have a large number of messages in the app. There’s some discussion about performance degradation on Github when the message count is higher than 500. See here.
I have seven accounts with several mails in each but i do clean regularly and nothing has really changed. Problem is… when for example you select “empty trash”, one in a while it might work while other times, the app freezes or crashes (or both) or maybe sometimes, just the very first mail, top of list goes away. Again I have a short screen recording if I can send it some place ?

I’d recommend you enable debug logging and try and recreate the crash while it’s running. You should create a github issue ticket with the steps to reproduce and debug log. I believe you can also attach your recording.

Not quite sure I have the debug command in the french version, I’ve searched everywhere if I click on “get help” just sends me to the forum? And I have noticed a new issue : when creating a new message, if you go back and fourth, the message is logically stored in the draft folder (ie. missing recipient). When you complete the message and send it from the draft folder, it will indeed be sent but a copy of the original message unredacted stays forever in the draft folder…
I’ve attached screen shots showing where the debug menu is, with language in French to help you locate it.
There’s also a French speaking forum here which you might find preferable.
I’m able to replicate the behavior you describe with emails in the draft folder reappearing. I’d recommend logging a seperate issue ticket on github for this as well.
