Since a few months, I got the problem that in most cases - though not every time - I want to send an email, it gets stuck in the mail outbox due to “software problems”. In most of the cases, though again not always, I’m able to send it if I go to the outbox and click on “send message”.
I got a Pixel 7 and Android 15, could be that this issue is related to the Android 15 update? It’s weird thst I didn’t find any related post (I assume many are using a Pixel 7 and/or Android 15). I’ve been using K9 for about 10 years and never had such problems.
Now it happened again. The precise error message is SocketException: Software caused connection abort.
already tried to reinstall the app.
No solution in sight? Seems like I have to switch to another mail app then.
Maybe you need to send logs with full exception. Does it happen on wifi or mobile data? Is VPN involved?
Both. Where do I find the log files on android?
Sertings / General settings / Debugging
Here you can enable debug logging
Once the issue happens again then at same menu entry you can export debug logs in the 3dot menu
Here’s the file k9mail-logs.txt - Google Drive
Any idea? It’s really annoying. I’m close to switching to another app.
Mhh … still I would think it is the server side which causes the issue, not the client. (But can only read the log on my small phone…)
Did you test with a different mail app in parallel if it works more reliable? When ypu are using IMAP it should not be a problem.
This is a problem of four different accounts, so four different providers.
Ok, yes, so server side might be ruled out.
Do you use any VPN or other security related software? If yes, can you try without it?
Also, did you try in parallel with some other mail app?
I have no active VPN and Gmail works fine. I’m pretty sure that this is an issue related to Android 15.
