I continually get message on my phone -Honor x6- that K9 mail is using too much battery. Running in background I think it says. But doesn’t it have to run in background to monitor and alert to new email push
China phones are known for very aggressive battery optimisations. You’ll need to live with it as you cannot disable the checks. They are baked into their modified Kernel.
When you Google for it, you’ll find some step by step instructions for most China brands to mitigate the issue a little bit.
It’s not the optimization notices . It kills the battery .
Does it actually drain the battery or is it just the warning messages? The messages wrt battery optimisations are phrased with different levels of severity. Maybe Honor just just claims lots of battery usage… Without any actual excessive drainage.

And for your accounts, Fetching Mail | Folder Poll Frequency set to?
Reducing these may help with battery issues.
