K-9/Thunderbird and a smartwatch

So I’ve been using first K-9 and now TBird for many years, without a lot of issues (except the new inbox colors for read/unread mail, but that’s a different topic).

I’ve recently started using a smartwatch, actually the 2nd one now, and setting it to get notifications from TBird makes it (and also the one I returned) pretty unuseable. I constantly get vibration alerts for the persistent Push notification, as well as whenever TBird polls for new mails.

I’ve switched to a different client today for testing purposes and with that one the smartwatch behaves as it should and only notifies me when a new email arrives.

Maybe that’s something the devs could look into? I don’t need an alert every 15 minutes to tell me TBird is checking mail, or for letting me know that Push is enabled. For now I’m sorry to say I’m staying with the other app :face_holding_back_tears:

I’ve set up the notifications to be silent and minimised. This, my Withings Scanwatch does not give me constant notifications as it only reacts to normal and high-prio notifications.

Could that work for you?

No - I had those (Push + Poll) notifications on silent + minimized as well, but still my “Fitonme” smartwatch vibrated every time TBird polled and randomly for the persistent Push notification :woman_shrugging:

OK, I think I finally got it!

In my device notification settings for Thunderbird I turned off every “Misc” notification and now finally my watch only receives incoming mail alerts, not push/pull or whatever alerts. I still don’t know exactly all those “Misc” notifications cover, but hopefully nothing important
