I am having trouble sending messages through an account hosted on Hostgator. The messages do not bounce but they also don’t make it to their destination. Email I send to members of my domain get delivered fine.
I am able to send email through my Hostgator account when using other Android mail clients such as Gmail, Aquamail and FairEmail
Yes, this is an known issue - search for hostgator. In general Hostgator is behaving incorrectly: it should either reject the mail with proper error message or accepting it and delivering it to recipient. But it should not silently swallow it.
On the other hand K-9 IMO could simply work around it by changing way it sends mail to Hostgator.

Are there any plans for K9 to develop a workaround, so that it would work with Hostgator?
Other email clients seem to work with Hostgator with no issue.
As far as I know : no. K-9 developers seem to insist on that it is Hostgator’s fault and K-9 should not leave the path of standard implementation
