K-9 mail account sign in

Hello everyone. After installing k-9 mail and during the setup process, it asks me to either sign in to thunderbird or sign in with email. Since I don’t have account with with thunderbird yet, I choose email.

The issue is this. The login page of my previous yahoo email login page continuously when I need to sign in to k-9 mail..

Fortunately, I still remember the yahoo password so accessing the account is not an issue. But, I’m not only seriously puzzled by Yahoo login page is keep appearing where k-9 mail login page should appear. It’s not that I don’t have k-9 mail account, I created an account with k-9 when I installed the K-9 mail.

My dilemma is “Why I have to keep sign-in to my old email when I’m already switched to k-9 email client” if this is the same with everyone else that uses k-9 mail than, it’s another separate issue. If this continues, why I use k-9 mail cliet. If I have to continuously sign in to my old email, it would be my best interest to continue using my old email.

Does anyone ever had the same issue and fixed the issue? Or anyone knows about having someone is suffering with same issue? Please share your experiences. Thank you.

What K-9 login? I’ve been using K-9/Tbird for years and never once was there a login for K-9. The only logins needed are those for the email accounts you’re adding.

K-9 is not a mail server, it’s simply an app to access emails on existing email servers like Gmail or Yahoo.

You mean you are using K-9 Mail and when you need to access your email you signed in to your old account where you left to switch to K-9 mail? The entire time since the day one with K-9 Mail? If so, why bother to use k-9 mail? Not particularly K-9 mail but any mail clients? Is it like that with all other email clients? I’m asking these because K-9 is my first mail client and been using for only a few days now. So I would like to know as much as possible. And thank you for your opinion. That really helps a lot.

It’s just a client to view your emails, reply to them etc. It’s not a new provider like Yahoo or Gmail - just an app to deal with your already existing email accounts.

And we use it because it works better and looks better and mostly because we can have Gmail, Yahoo, GMX etc all in ONE app without having to install the apps of each provider

You mean you still have the old emails still active and to access k-9, you enter credentials to your old accounts? In my case I only have two active emails so accessing them with username and password wasn’t bothered at all. But thinking of someone with 5 or 6 emails then that would be a little different. Thank you for the advise.

I don’t need to enter any credentials to “access K-9” - but K-9 needs them to fetch and send my emails with different providers. I enter those ONE time, when setting up the Yahoo/Gmail/whatever accounts in K-9 and then I never have to enter them again.

I don’t know how better to explain it lol … K-9 is not an email provider, simply an app like Windows Mail or Outlook to keep all my email accounts in one place.

I’m sorry for the continued questioning, then why they keep asking me to enter credentials? Not only they ask me to verify over my phone every single time. That’s the reason I’m here.

I don’t know who “they” are, but it’s not K-9.

Has to be one of your email providers, but without more details or a screenshot (without any private info of course) nobody can assist you.

Sounds like, the OP is authenticating with OAUTH probably each time. The session is not being held and getting wiped.

What’s your phone and OS, and what browser do you use? Perhaps a privacy featured one that blows away cookies frequently?

Motorola, android 16, I use about 3 or 4 different browsers.

Is there K-9 PC version?

K-9 is a very old Android app. Very old. One of the first, if not the first, mail apps for Android.

Since Mozilla picked it up couple years ago, I guess you could say that Thunderbird is it’s big brother.
