I am trying to get k-9 working, for me that is.
But, what ever i do: k-9 doesn’t see google contacts.

What do you mean by “see”? K-9 Mail should offer auto-completion for all contacts in your phone’s contact database.
K-9 Mail itself doesn’t import or sync contacts. So you need to add your Google account via Android settings and make sure contacts are synced (or use a third-party contact sync app that knows how to sync Google contacts).
