Actually I was hoping for a “hack” to get around it, but I guess that’s not happening, then.
Its really awful for me as well, the only choice seems to be to use gmail (grrr), why hasn’t this issue been addressed yet. I am in the same boat with this user and my livelihood depends on minute to minute access to emails, as they are are sent!? This has got to be google(aka cia, etc…) designing things this way to force us to their surveillance structures

This is exactly what push mails are for. Then they arrive within a few seconds, not just every X minutes. You can enable that on the K-9 settings screen.
