I just obtained a new Google Pixel 9 Pro smartphone, Android 14. I have used K-9 v6.804 successfully on a Chromebook, and I am considering installing K-9 on the new Pixel. However, I have read so many extremely negative comments about the current version 8 that I am reluctant. I will only need to use K-9 with a single account, so that is not an issue. But I don’t know how I could install an older version like 6.804 on the phone without going through the Google Play Store. TIA.
Simply download it from Github (scroll down or check the next pages for that specific release), put it in your phone storage and tap on the apk to install it.
Thanks for the tip. I will try it later today.

You will need to prevent the Playstore auto upgrading the app.
So far so good. I got it working and downloaded some existing emails. I am not sure everything is OK, but I will mark this as solved.
