Inport - export does not create folders

Inport - export does not create folders.

Hi C_H

Welcome to the forum.

Does your account use Imap or pop3 for the server connection?

For Imap, the folders are normally synchronized with those available on the server.

Can you try…

  1. Select account
  2. Click manage folders
  3. Click the 3 dot menu
  4. Refresh folder list

Yes I tried a refresh folders on both pop3 and Imap. I am a director of an internet company and I know what I am doing.

I am running K9 update version (paid for) and I tried the inport/export so I could send a file to my sister after she installed K9 on her Android tablet, but I can’t send her the export file until it works on my copy of K9

To repeat the problem - on trying to inport an exported file all works as it should with the exception no folders are created. One odd thing is that if you go into webmail all the folders are there and it works fine, it’s only in the K9 program that are missing. One last odd thing - after rebooting the phone, one folder does appear and that is the outbox folder but none of the others.

Many thanks CH.

What do you mean ? I posted a proper support question.

The export in itself does not contain any folders. It only has pointer to which folders are supposed to be synchronised with the server.

Please check if any size or age restrictions are set. If the newest email is older than the restriction setting, the folder won’t appear as nothing is synchronised.

Similar, if the size limit is to low, emails larger than that won’t be synchronised.

Finally, there was a bug some years back in which the re-imported settings had an incorrect number of 0 for some folders. But that bug was fixed. Anyhow, the workaround was to set the correct number (e.g. 1000) so that K-9 would synchronise the affected folders.

Can you please check if any of these apply to your installation of K-9?

How is your one line “Import - export does not create folders.” a proper support question?

It’s a statement, not a question, with no background information.

  • What app and android version?
  • What email provider & configuration.
  • What steps could be followed to reproduce your issue.
  • What steps had you taken before hand to debug or diagnose the issue.
  • Had you captured & examine debug logs beforehand.

You rejected my response out of hand, splaining your job role, a paid version user and you know what you’re doing. What difference do those points make to community members offering you support. It doesn’t solicit special treatment, everyone is responded to equally, fairly and with respect, no matter their background or technical proficiency.

What debug and fault finding steps had you already taken. What suggestions could be offered without eliciting further curt responses from yourself? Maybe you could have included those in your initial post.

What your response done was close the door to further support from me on this post.
