Has anyone been able to add Hotmail/Outlook to K9Mail Android lately?

I keep getting this error message “User is authenticated but not connected” while trying to add @hotmail to k9 android. Login method was IMAP, automatic configuration, OAuth 2.0, I did have the “forwarding via IMAP” toggle enabled in outlook settings dashboard. This is as of August 2026, last year, the two outlook/hotmail I’ve added are still kicking and alive. I wonder if what I experienced is isolated to me only.

Hi @rickroll

It’s not isolated to you. I happens mostly with new personal outlook.com accounts. I have a long standing Hotmail account which works fine in the app.

There’s no fix or workaround at the moment. The issue is logged on github ticket #10787

We are really sorry you all are facing this issue. Microsoft has been making significant changes recently without providing any disclosure or documentation that could help us understand these changes or how to address them.

If anyone is capable of coding and is also facing this issue, we would be really glad to receive any assistance with the investigation. Any help fixing this issue is really appreciated.

tq for confirming, Zeroid, now I don’t have to be anxious anymore knowing that the problem is not on my end, the uncertainty lies not with me but Microsoft’s end.
