Starting about a couple weeks ago, I’ve been receiving “Authentication Failure” notifications for both my AOL and Outlook accounts, the Outlook account being the one to generate them more often. My settings for these accounts are the correct ones & both are set to 0Auth2. I am signed out of my AOL account when this happens & have to sign back in. I’m using K9 version 6.804 on an older Samsung J3V phone running Android Pie.
What’s the authentication type for each of:
Settings | Fetching mail | Incoming Server
Settings | Sending mail | Outgoing Server
For both accounts AOL & Outlook, the authentication type is 0Auth 2.0 for incoming and outgoing servers.
Such may be proactive on their part, if they see what they think is suspicious activity due to K-9 mail traffic. Pure guess though.
You’d probably have to turn on debug logging next and see what happens when the sessions stop.
I’ve had a couple accounts on OAuth2, and just today migrated some off of app passwords. I can’t recall a session ending and having to authenticate again. Yet.
