There is no “server”. It’s an app to check your emails, Yahoo, Gmail, GMX or whatever. There is no server involved, just the ones your emails are on like mail.google.com for example.

K-9 mail as an organization does not have any server which stores your email. This is a fact. The K-9 app in your phone only connects directly to the email servers you have configured.

I am a user and I know because I have been using this app for years. I don’t know what you think K-9 is? It is ONLY an app to fetch/send mails that are hosted on other servers, like gmail or yahoo or whatever.
K-9 does NOT have any servers - everything is stored with your email provider or on your phone.

What does that even matter? It’s an app, use it or stick with the one from your email provider.
K-9 is part of Thunderbird now, so yes it’s an organization. For profit or not is nothing I ever cared about in any app I use.
K-9 was a long standing open source application. On the above, they joined Thunderbird as part of the Mozilla Foundation.
