I have K-9 on my phone and I have another email client on my desk top . When i get a email on my phone it does not show up on my desk top

Are you using the pop3 protocol rather than Imap with K-9?
Emails downloaded via pop3 are typically deleted from the server by default.
This is one possible explanation why your emails in K9 don’t show up on your desktop.
You can normally change this behaviour on your providers webmail settings page.
