On Thunderbird for Android there’s an option /settings/accounts/folders/Auto-expand folder. To me, that sounds like entering the value none for that option should collapse all folders and expand them to see sub folders only when a button is clicked. However, this is not the case. I’m not sure what it does.
I’m not sure if this is a bug, but I think there should be something explaining what this setting does. Additionally, I would love for there to be an option to collapse folders. I have a lot of folders so having to scroll through all of the sub folders is very annoying.
