Can't log into school office 365 account

I’m having trouble signing into my school email account in K-9 Mail which uses Office365. When I sign in, it uses OAuth, seems like everything is fine but then I get this error message “user is authenticated but not connected”. I’m aware that there could be other ways around this by using app passwords, but it looks like app passwords are not enabled by the admin who works at the school so I am not able to use an app password. So what I assume is happening is that the admin has not enabled app passwords and has not enabled any third party clients for email access for students. I just wanted to confirm that no one has had this error and fixed it in a way other than contacting the admin and getting them to either allow app passwords or enable a 3rd party email service.
