I try to install K9 on my android smartphone;;; no way …my usersname or password are invalid…they are the same as on my gmail en Thunderbird account … what do I di wring please ?

Because K9 doesn’t yet support OAUTH2 you need to set up an “app password” for what google calls “less secure apps”. See https://forum.k9mail.app/t/gmail-setup-could-not-finish/650 for some details. Your gmail login password will not work with K9.
