Bull delete - single folder/all mail

I use K-9 as a mobile mail repository with the “master” email always going on my main PC - i.e. the only “delete on server” action happens when a mail is downloaded to the PC, not K-9. This is POP3.

So every email on K-9 is a duplicate, and I’ve been lazy and let them build up so I now have over 22k of these duplicate mail.

I’m aware of the difficulties of “Select all” > “Delete” not working, so is there a way to selectively delete all local mail without losing the account settings? Ideally I’d want to selectively delete a whole folder’s contents, but if I need to delete all mails in the whole mailbox that will be acceptable. I presume there must be a way to do this (e.g. deleting certain database files) - any thoughts, please?

Option 1

If offered on pop folders, try the ‘Clear all messages’ option.

  1. Open the side menu with account folders visible.
  2. Tap manage folders (bottom of list).
  3. Tap folder name.
  4. Tap 3 dot menu.
  5. Tap ‘Clear local messages’.

Option 2

Remove the whole account and restore it’s configuration from backup file.

  1. Export the apps settings to a backup file. (settings > export)
  2. Remove the desired account. (settings > account > 3dot menu > remove account)
  3. Import the account configuration from the backup file. (settings > import)

Export/Import is only for settings. No email messages are backed-up or restored.

During the import, you can pick which account(s) to restore.
