So i installed TB for Android, imported everything from Desktop TB and tested it, K9 is still also installed on my smartphone.
PROBLEM : in Thunderbird 8.0 for Android, when i DELETE AN EMAIL, it is only COPIED into the trash bin and not deleted. This is annoying, because K9 and Thunderbird on Desktop PC will still show the eMail in the inbox.
Such a problem is not present in K9, in K9 the sync works fine.
Though i just donated for Thunderbird, i deleted the app right now and stick to K9 on Android.
The overall confusion would become too gread.

Thunderbird for Android and K-9 Mail are using the same code. So if it works with one, it should work with the other. If that’s not the case it could be a configuration issue. It’s also possible that the Thunderbird installation is corrupted and that’s why it’s not working properly. Try uninstalling, then reinstalling the app.
I can confirm this behavior, in fact, I arrived at this post a few days ago through Google searching for the exact same bug description (“thunderbird android cannot delete”). It turned out to be a configuration issue that seems to be created during the Desktop import via QR code. I did just create an account to share my “solution” as my first post on this forum:
Go to the account’s setting → Fetching mail: When I delete a message → Delete from Server (was before: Keep on server) Erase deleted messages on server → Immediately
Note: the menu points may be called slightly different - I translated from German to English.
