Authentication Fails on IMAP Yahoo K-9 20.0

K-9 Mail v. 20.0

One POP3 account, not relevant here.
One IMAP account, Yahoo Mail.

Since the update to K-9 20.0, authentication fails for reading mail on Yahoo. I just get an error message that authentication failed with the statement to update my server settings, but I don’t know what to update. I know that Yahoo is getting emails, because I can use the Yahoo app on my smartphone or login to my Yahoo account via Chrome, and the emails are there.

Here are my settings for the Yahoo IMAP account on K-9 chromeOS:

Your oAuth token likely just needs renewing.

  1. Navigate to settings > account name > fetching mail > incoming server.
  2. Click next.
  3. Tap the oAuth sign-in button (if prompted or displayed).

That’s normally sufficient to allow the app to reconnect to Yahoo’s server.

I’m assuming the comma in your server name is just a typing error?
imap.mail,yahoo.com

That solved the error. Now it is downloading old emails, and I sent a test message from another account, which was received promptly. Renewing the OAuth fixed it, so I will mark this query as solved.

Yes, the comma in the server name was just a typo. On most US-ASCII keyboards, the period and comma keys are right next to each other, and on this Chromebook they are scarcely distinguishable.
