Since the recent update I am no longer able to click on attachments and open them. It now says “view”next to the attachment and I have to download it to my phones storage in order to view the attachment.
Same problem here after update today. This is irritating. This would be typical for Microsoft to add steps unnecessarily, but this isn’t Microsoft. Please give us an option to revert this to attachment “Preview” without having to click “ View”.
Actually, instead of seeing a “Preview” of the attachment in the message, there have 3 new steps to take to get to the preview. (1) click on “View” next to the attachment name. (2) Click on the attachment name. (3) Click on the assocated app under “Open With”, assuming you haven’t set a default app.

I don’t believe there was any deliberate decision made to remove image previews. Attachments were reworked (#10530) to reposition them from the bottom to the top of an email, a popular request from users. Preview of images just seem to have been overlooked during the process.
A bug report is open for the issue and labelled by the developers as a regression.
It’ll likely be resolved in due course.
