I have an account that for regulatory reasons I can’t delete and must preserve all the emails for several years. I have deleted all the server settings. It was previously a POP3 account so when I prompt K9 to poll for new email I get a message on my phone saying authentication failed update your settings. It’s very annoying. I need to archive and possibly export the entire account so I can delete it from my phone. Can’t find anything. Suggestions please.
Unfortunately the app doesn’t offer any backup option to save/export locally stored emails such as those downloaded via pop3.
You can raise the idea on Mozilla connect where the community can then vote for it.
There’s a few options you can try to limit the notifications and any sync attempts.
a. Under settings > account name > fetching mail.
Set folder poll frequency = never
b. Toggle sync off for each folder on the archived account.
- Open the side menu with the account folders visible
- Tap manage folders (bottom of list)
- Tap the folder name
- Toggle “Enable Sync” OFF
- Repeat for each folder
c. The notifications are configured on an account basis. You can try disabling notifications for just the archived pop account to hopefully stop seeing the error notifications.
- Navigate to android settings > apps > K9
- Tap manage notifications.
- For each account, you should see a messages and miscellaneous category.
- For the archived account, try turning off notifications on both categories.
Thanks Zeroid
I had already done A & B without result but C worked perfectly.
