Address autocomplete not working

When sending an email. The autocomplete for email address doesnt work. I have sent and resived email in the past to the email address. But k9mail just doesn’t want to autocomplete the email.
Is there a setting that i am missing that needs to be turn on or is this a bug?

K-9 completes email addresses only from your contacts, not from previous emails.

Will this change with a future update or is this not a planed feature?

The feature is on the wishlist since 2016, but given that K-9 has only very few developers, everything takes its time.

Is there any perspective on this basic email feature, because it’s quite essential? Nowadays you don’t need to save every email address in your contact list, but you still need to reply to them or write a new email.

I don’t know about any email client, windows or Android that does not have this feature.

Thank you

I also find this extremely annoying, any progress on this feature?

We’ve been waiting for years for a function that already offers known addresses or the possibility of exporting and importing Thunderbird address books.
I don’t think it takes much programming-wise.
It is seen that k9 developers use other mail apps.
It’s practically useless without an address book.
And don’t tell me I have to use Google’s one.
You don’t think I’d start uploading 800 addresses by hand…
k9 is only good for reading emails.
But if you have to write or forward it is useless.
When you forward, don’t forward the attachments unless you first remember to force the full download.

Google does offer DAV support. No need to import by hand. Just use a CardDAV client. E.g., I use gsyncit between our enterprise Exchange and my business Google account.

You can also import a CSV through Google’s Contacts web app.
