My gmail takeout is 15GBs. If I will put it on email it will cost me ~8$/mo, which is quite a lot for this once a year occasion when i need to retrieve some very old email. So I keep the old files as yearly local folders in thunderbird. But now when I need something I cannot do it on the go, which feels like the 90s. It would be quite easy to sync the old mbox files to an sdcard. I don’t need an indexed database, slow searches are ok, just some basic parsing and text search will do 80% of the job. My guess is that it is one of the issues preventing people from leaving gmail
