Thanks, I know. But I’ve lost faith at this point that either side really cares about whether I get my email or not. I understand that K-9 developers owe me nothing. I’ve been using the client free for years and I got everything I paid for. HostGator does owe me service because I paid them, but it appears that others have tried and failed to get them to change.
I also really would vote for some option to enable workaround on K9 for the issue some mail providers have. Having a warning based on some known server names would also help K9 users to identify issues quickly.
I now use K9 for a personal email account, on which it works correctly, albeit only because it didn’t drop POP support like was discussed at one time. I switched my business email account to FairEmail, and have been pretty happy with it. While it took some adjustment on my part, it has a lot of nice features, especially on the privacy front. I actually upgraded to the paid version to get one extra feature, custom notification tones, and contributed well above the minimum donation, because I appreciated that the developers took the product so seriously. There are some advantages to using two different programs for two different accounts, especially where visual notifications are concerned, as they become more distinct.
I still will always have a soft spot for K9, and will likely always use it as long as it still works for my personal account. But, I had to do something else for my business email because my email was becoming a casualty in an ideology war. I will also add, a lot of the silliness on the hosting end is being driven by g00gle heightening their demands on what they will even accept as a candidate for delivery versus automatically rejecting. At least g00gle notifies when they reject a message…
